This is a small taste of the in-app trait builder. Choose an altitude band and a form, and watch the reading update — no AI, just WMO classification logic.
Select one option in each step to generate a genus reading. In the full app, this builder also weighs opacity, edge sharpness, and iridescence to reach species-level detail.

An Observatory Built By Sky Watchers
The story behind Cumulus Atlascope, in four short entries.
We're a small crew of photographers, hobbyist meteorologists, and people who never stopped looking up. Cumulus Atlascope grew out of our own overflowing camera rolls — hundreds of sky photos with no structure, no bearings, no way to compare one cumulonimbus to the next.
Our mission is structure without losing the craft of looking up. We didn't want an app that identifies clouds for you and closes the loop — we wanted one that gives you the instruments to do it yourself, the way field naturalists always have.
That's why every shoot gets a Shot Passport, every archive stays yours to explore, and the WMO-based atlas and Observer's Handbook sit right alongside your own logged campaigns — reference and record, side by side, always on your device.

Private By Design
A full account of how Cumulus Atlascope treats your data — in short: it doesn't collect any.
Information We Collect
None. Cumulus Atlascope does not collect any personal information, device identifiers, usage analytics, or photo content. There is no sign-up form, no login, and no background telemetry — the app simply has nothing to gather.
How We Use Information
Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for us to use, analyze, profile, or sell. We don't build user models, we don't run advertising, and we have no data pipeline connecting your device back to us in any form.
Data Storage
Your Shot Passports, photographs, notes, atlas logs, and archive entries are stored exclusively on your device's local storage. Nothing is synced to a cloud server. The only time your archive leaves your device is when you choose to export it manually from Observatory settings.
Third-Party Services
Cumulus Atlascope contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, and no trackers of any kind. We also do not use any AI-based cloud recognition service — classification is a tool you operate yourself, entirely on-device.
Data Security
The safest data is data that never travels. Because your archive never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it, there is no server to breach, no account to hijack, and no transmission to intercept — the architecture itself is the safeguard.
Children's Privacy
Cumulus Atlascope does not knowingly or unknowingly collect information from anyone, including children. As no data collection mechanism exists in the app, there is nothing to gather regardless of a user's age.
Your Control
You hold the entire archive. There are no accounts to delete or manage — uninstalling the app permanently removes every passport, note, and photo log. You may also export your archive at any time, on your own schedule, from Observatory settings.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is ever updated, the revised version will be published within the app and reflected by a new effective date above. Our core commitment — no data collection, no accounts, no cloud sync — will not change.
